Bristol Botanic Garden - Things to do in Bristol
Bristol University has a botanic garden which is open to the public. This can make a nice trip if you are interested in nature in and around Bristol.
The garden is at at site called The Holmes at Stoke Bishop just off the Downs in Stoke Park Road opposite Churchill Hall. The location has a bit of a history as during the Normandy landings in 1944 it was used as a base for top US generals.
The plants collections are centred round four main themes: Plant Evolution, Plants of Mediterranean Climate Regions, Useful Plants and Local Flora and Rare Native Plants. As you can see on the design to the right the garden includes various water features which make a great habitat for water lillies.
