Bristol Comedy Clubs

Everyone likes a laugh, often at my expense, if you want to switch off the comedy repeats on TV and get out and see something live this guide to Bristol’s comedy venues will have your eyeballs glued to the computer screen.

The Comedy Box is situated over the Hen and Chicken pub in Southville on North Street. The comedy box team have been operating in Bristol since 1994. In the past decade they brought acts such as Peter Kay, Al Murray the Pub Landlord, Bill Bailey and Graham Norton. They run shows on Friday and Saturday nights with a mixture of touring shows and weekly double bills. Doors open at 8pm and the show begins at 8.45pm. Check out their My Space page.

Jesters Comedy Club is on Cheltenham Rd. Every Friday and Saturday they host “Stand Up and Boogie” a show with four UK circuit comedians. Thursdays is Meal Deal night where ten pounds buys you something to eat and entrance to the show. Every Wednesday during Autumn and Spring terms there is a student night with an entry fee of five pounds and dangerously cheap booze.

Jongleurs is on Baldwin Street slap bang in the city centre. It hosts regular comedy nights Thursday through to Saturday. This is the big name brand for comedy clubs which might be a positive or a negative for you. i think they are generally hated by the independent comedy clubs.
