A conman is on the loose in Bristol local police have reported. A series of cunning raids have been carried, police suspect, by one man. Sometimes known as the ‘Beanie Man’, due to his propensity for wearing Beanie style hats, the culprit has been perpetrating an energy related con trick against trusting local residents.
Hi MO is simple. He knocks on a door posing as an innocent new neighbour with electrical problems. “I can’t get the lights on!”. He asks for an extension lead, then turns it down because “it isn’t the right shape” then procedes to ask for money for the electrical meter. Once the money is handed over he is off sharpish with his promises to return proving to be a callous lie.
He is known to boast about his connections with local curry houses and to offer free meals, which of course never materialise, in return for spare change.
