Welcome Event for new Bristol and UWE Socrates and Erasmus Overseas Students - Thursday 11th October

New overseas students, Bristol and UWE University Erasmus and Socrates  Students are going to be welcomed to the city with a special event to take place at Explore-at Bristol on the harbourside. The big event will kick off at 18:30 for two hours on Thursday the 11th October. The event happens every year and is now having its eight birthday. Over 200 students are expected.

Various local dignitaries will welcome the fresh faced, innocent hopefuls including the Lord Mayor of Bristol, Councillor Royston Griffey, John Rushforth, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UWE and Avril Waterman Pearson, Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Bristol.

The event is designed to give new Erasmus and Socrates students in Bristol a warm welcome. Leaving your country and going somewhere new can be a tough time so it is a great opportunity to make new friends, meet people from other countries and meet new local people. There will also be a chance to have a look round the Explore museum and a string quartet will be playing.
